Starting 2016: The Spine Race

Billed as "Britain's most brutal race" this was originally on the 2015 calendar but due to work commitments had to be postponed. So 2016 saw me at the start line in Edale with a pack full of gear, a large group of running friends around and a very low-key start to a very, very big race.

Having done a lot of walking over the previous months in Nepal, I was confident that my hill phobia was sorted and I could get up the lumpy stuff, though knowing the Pennines from a well-spent youth fell running I knew that staying upright may be more of a problem.
